New Mitcham cleanroom

13 Dec 2010

London (UK), 13 December 2010: Carclo Technical Plastics Ltd announces that it has completed a new injection moulding and assembly clean room within its Mitcham, Surrey, UK, facility to support a major customer.

Having assisted the customer in the development of its innovative dry powder inhaler, Carclo Technical Plastics has completed a new class 7 clean room for moulding the components in production volumes. The facility also has the capability to laser mark, ultrasonically weld and camera inspect a subassembly. The full device will be filled by the ultimate customer and will be used in the treatment of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Carclo has invested approximately £1.2 million in the facility which includes all-electric injection moulding machines from Krauss Maffei. The customer has invested approximately £3 million in tooling from various European toolmakers and bespoke automation from Lambert Engineering and Hi-Tech Automation.

CTP’s UK Managing Director Patrick Ward stated "We are delighted to have completed this new facility on time and within budget. Carclo has long been involved in inhaler manufacture and this is an exciting programme for the Mitcham operation."
